After a day of student voting and last minute campaigning, the results for the 2026 Student Government Association (SGA) election have been released.
Mwango Kasuba and the rest of the Culture Party swept the ballot and comprise the new SGA executive board for the 2026-2027 academic year. The results were announced by current SGA Vice President of Mission and Community, Samiya Henry, in an email to students Thursday morning.
“To start a party just last year and come off a loss and to come back and have a full speed win is the best thing in the world,” Kasuba said. “I appreciate all the people at Duquesne and I appreciate all the people who came out to vote.”
The president-elect will lead an executive-board of students who he said will work to represent all populations at Duquesne.
The 2026-2027 executive-board members are:
- President Mwango Kasuba
- Vice President of Communications Sadie Kim
- Vice President of Finance Aziz Yumouh
- Vice President of Student Life Elsie Angeles
- Vice President of Academic Affairs Julius Maurice
- Vice President of Mission and Community Gabriela Garcia-Rodriguez
Mary Paternoster, current SGA Vice President of Communications and presidential candidate for the Mission Forward party, said she was proud of the effort her and her running mates put in, and that she is looking forward to seeing what the Culture Party will accomplish.
“If they are passionate about SGA and they plan to lead it to the best of their availability, then I’m excited to see what they do, because I know they will do a good job,” Paternoster said.
Kasuba said he is excited for what’s to come.
“We’re gonna make things happen this year,” he said.
