I took a sharp turn leaving the Locust Garage on Tuesday. Hearing a loud crunch, I knew the damage to my car would be extensive. It was, and now my car is left with scratches and a huge dent. I originally blamed myself, and yes it’s partly my fault, but it feels like it is a rite of passage for Duquesne students with big cars.

For those who commute or have cars on campus, you know what spot I’m talking about. To exit the garage you must turn down a very narrow ramp. There are scratch marks lining the poles and walls, clearly I’m not the only one that had this issue, and I won’t be the last. Having a conversation with my peers I realized – If you haven’t personally hit the pole, you know someone who has.

It’s a tricky spot! If you have damaged your car in the same location – it’s annoying but don’t beat yourself up, it was a simple mistake.
