“I don’t have hobbies; hobbies cost money. Interests are quite free.”

-George Carlin

I have major beef with hobbies. It’s probably because not having any used to make me feel bad about myself. I have things that I do for fun — I read and go to the gym on occasion. But I don’t do it frequently enough to be classified as a hobby. I would love to pick up a creative pastime, maybe painting. But that would require painting and paintbrushes, and I simply cannot bring myself to spend money on that. Hobbies (at least the ones I would be interested in) require the funds and time commitment that I do not have.

So for now, I will remain hobbyless, and I have learned to accept that. You don’t need to have a “thing,” something that you are really passionate about and good at. As long as you are happy during your free time, who cares.
