As the arts & entertainment editor, I pride myself on delivering hilarious weekly horoscopes to my fellow students. Nobody has specifically asked about my process, but I’m going to tell you anyway.

About half of the horoscopes were created by the sleep-deprived staff at The Duke. Being in the newsroom until the early hours of the morning my coworkers say some pretty comedic and outrageous stuff. If something is quotable enough I write it down in the running list of horoscope ideas.

The other half is created by Naomi Girson, opinions editor. Producing 12 horoscopes each week can be daunting. So when I’m fresh out of content, I rely on Naomi for some last-minute ideas. Some of our best horoscopes come in the eleventh hour.

Putting together an entire paper each week is a chaotic process that takes a lot of teamwork. The horoscopes are no exception.
