Duquesne community reacts to Pope Leo XIV, first American pontiff

Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected pope on May 8, becoming the first American pope in the 2000-year history of the Catholic Church. He is also considered a cardinal of Latin America because he spent many years as a missionary in Peru, eventually becoming a citizen there. The 69-year-old new pontiff chose the name Leo XIV.
